I am looking for Website Development in Ohio. Does anyone recomment a Ohio Web Design Company that can help my online business grow?

I am not looking for a Basement Bob - we have a serious online reputation and wish to maintain it. Right now our site is OK at converting but the problem is we are nowhere near page one on Google for our phrases.

Also there is a lot of features we wish to include on our pages - so we need website development, search engine optimization and other services.

I’m looking for an affordable web designer to create a basic five page site with blog. NO FLASH PLEASE! I also need business cards. There are a trillion web designers out there but a lot of them offer weird, bizarre crap. The mood that I would like to create is hip, chic, fun, simple, modern and a bit indie. Sounds easy eh? Believe it or not lots of designers can get this right!

I’m simply looking for somone who is flexible and patient. Someone who is looking to build their portfolio and absolutely knows that good design can be affordable….kinda like Target. I’m not looking for the cheapest designer; but a designer who has creative vision. Experience with e-commerce and shopping carts a plus.

No, but I know of a great one in California.
Design companies don’t need to be local… the only reason for that is for your ‘piece of mind’. In most cases, by limiting to ‘local’ design companies, you also limit the creative potential, and normally don’t receive what you wanted.

i am a student and do this part time, i only made about $7000 last year by checks, i was told if i did not receive 1099 forms from the businesses i did work for, there is no record of my work sent to the government so its not necessary to claim these. i also saw for certain cases if income is not more than 8500, you do not need to file, last i saw that is my deductibles exceed my earnings, theres no need to file, i saw that you automatically get a 5000 + 3000 filing as a single and then i have over 1000 dollars more worth of clear deductibles, so should i file? and if i do, i shouldnt end up paying anythign anyway right?

You were told wrong, by someone encouraging you to break the law by evading income taxes, not a good way to start a career. By law, you need to file whether you received 1099’s or not - it’s just harder for the IRS to catch up with you if the companies you worked for didn’t file 1099’s, but they still could.

You would be considered an independent contractor or a sole proprietor of your business. As such, you’re required to file a tax return if you made over $400. Whether or not you owe income tax, you’ll owe self-employment tax (social security and medicare).

The limit of $8450 is for a single person who is not a dependent of anyone, working as an employee. This person would have had social security deducted from his paycheck. Someone who is a dependent of someone else, like a parent, must file if they make over $5150 as an employee.

You would fill out a schedule C showing your income and the expenses of producing that income, and a schedule SE to compute your self-employment tax. The numbers from the bottom of those forms would transfer to your form 1040.

So yes, you must file to be legal, and you’ll probably end up owing some money.

If you mean just the graphics and layout detail, then that is fine. But, the features your website offers and how people are going to navigate around your website is really important. I think the answer is that you should design most of the website yourself. On paper, put every possible feature for the website you could want, and maybe even draw examples. Next, use a scanner to scan them into your computer.

Finally, submit your website idea to RENTACODER.com. Instruct bidders to include a link to their portfolio in their bid, so you can see what their websites have looked like in the past. There surely must be thousands of well-qualified web-developers on rentacoder who can design your website properly, but you should be the one to instruct them how to design it. If you decide to go this route, place a link in the details section and maybe I’ll bid on it.

I’ve used Rentacoder and am very happy with my results. Just remember it is very similar to being a good supervisor, in that you shouldn’t be a jerk pointlessly and should be polite but you do have to demand things of your workers. And as mentioned, you need to already know exactly what you want. From your question, it seems like you may not have thought about it a lot. The same would be true if you were to hire a design agency or use another website to do the work.
