Principles of Wine

March 10, 2010 - 4:43 am No Comments

Does buying wines frighten or perhaps befuddle you? It may well when you do not really buy or drink wine frequently and that’s ok, there’s too much mystery and occasionally snobbery related to wine.

Nevertheless, wine makes the ideal complement for many meals and there are times when you’ll probably decide to select a wine beverage to serve at home or order in a restaurant. If you want to know about wines, try them to learn what you prefer and what you do not like in wines.

Wine beverages vary in flavor and tannin content (pucker quotient) as well as the way the wines strike the taste buds. The white along with bass or red with meats is a principle about partnering wines with meals that you might often hear.

It is a general rule based on the concept that red wines often have more taste and white wines can be lighter in taste and the principle is red wines will not be overpowered by the red meat and white wines tend to be more delicate thus go well with the subtly flavored meals like bass.

Super Cool Stemless Martini Glasses

Something new that I stumbled across in a catalog the other day was the stemless martini glass. They look very cool. And as soon as I saw them I thought, what a perfect idea, why didn’t I think of that? The one thing I have always hated about martinis was the glass. The tall skinny base makes it so easy to knock over and spill. With these super cool stemless martini glasses, they sit directly on the table like regular glasses, but still have the large opening at the top in order to let the drink to breath and ingredients to blend. They look great and now you don’t have to walk around the room worrying about spilling your drink.

And The Best Wine Is …

If I really had to decide what kind of wine I preferred I think my honest answer would be: It depends … and it really does. I mean wine is one of the most diverse things in the world. Tannin levels, sugar, acidity, alcohol content can combine together in such a dazzling number of ways that no two wines are ever the same. More than this though is the climate that grapes grow in. If you compare a Pinot grown in California to one that has been grown in France you will know exactly what I mean. They taste nothing alike … in fact if you were to do everything the same in the growth of the grapes and production of the wine, except for their local … they would taste nothing alike. It is incredible. California Wine Club

Decanter Main Function

February 2, 2010 - 3:10 pm No Comments

One of the most vital functions of a decanter is to make sure that the wine is correctly aerated before service. This is particularly crucial to young grimace which need a great surface to air proportion to properly achieve their optimum aeration. The shape of the Ravenscroft respiring Decanter lets the wine swirl freely during the pour, further activating oxidizing properties.

As with all of Ravenscroft’s fine crystal decanter wine products, the Ravenscroft Breathing Decanter is made from pure minerals and made without the assistance of lead by a number of the world’s most dedicated craftsmen.
