A valued practice for families is when Christmas comes around and the train set come out of the box and are used to build a wonderful holiday scene.  With a Holiday train garden the entire family gets drawn in.  Some will cover  the trains, getting the tracks brushed and cleaned, the locomotive oiled and the transformer hooked up and functional.  Others work on the town setting that is placed around the train tracks.  These will be some homes, businesses, barns or churches and any other scenery that fits.  Fake snow,  cars, people, Santas and barnyard animals are placed around to improve the look of the train layout. 
 
Once it is all arranged, their imaginations take them into the world of the Christmas train display, some will pretend they are the engineer as they run the train, others envision what is going on in the various houses in the town.
