Currently I play in the Automotive Paint Sector and own a company called Brushless Colors. I am in the process of selling off the company, not the name, and am merging over into the Web Design sector for a career.

Currently I have Blue Ice Studio as a business name but just don’t seem like I get much enthusiasm over the name when I say it to others.

Which do you like better for a Web Design Company name?

- Blue Ice Studio

- Brushless Colors

Some are just telling me to keep my original name cause it fits the web design part as well. Maybe you have another name that you think might work better….mention it if you would.
I already own both dot coms.

You could just always use your own name, like "Smith Business Designs".

I have a new web design company (www.creative-itsolutions.net) and think the best targets a newly started businesses, but with out spending loads of money i don’t no how to get to them any ideas?

The biggest downside is that there is so much competition online. The negatives can be greatly outweighed by the positives but you really have to set yourself apart from the other million businesses online. There are a few ways to do this:

1) An eye-catching web page. This is the most important thing because you want people to be attracted to your business. It should suit whatever product you are selling but also be unique and fun. It should give the appearance of professionalism.

2) Advertise on free press release sites. There are many out there to choose from but all of them achieve the same goal; name exposure.

3) Get a toll free number. A catchy 1-800 number is something any business should have. There’s a reason EVERY Fortune 500 company has one. A toll free gives customers easy access to contact you without paying long distance charges. It also adds to the appearance of professionalism. And a customer will remember the number and be more likely to find you later. It’s a fact that a toll free number can increase business by as much as 600%. Wow, you have been designing webpages since you were 7??? That’s interesting. Well, take some of the websites that you’ve designed, make a portfolio, build your own business website, advsertise and voila! you own a web design company. You may also find it advantageous to incorporate. Business will come when you treat clients well and do good work.

I have vested intrest in a year old web design company. My problem is this, whats the most effective way to get the word out about this company with out resorting to sale reps. and cold calling? No freelance websites, a client gets what they pay for with those sites. Any suggestion would help, I’m open to any suggestion!

This seems more a question for a possible marketing section (I don’t know if such a thing exists though), but I think an option you should try would be to set up a few small versatile websites, and try to sell those. Now this may be an impossible task, since I don’t exactly know what dynamic entails. Do you mean sites where people interact with the site, using more then basic HTML, or a site where databases and such are used, much like this one? However, if you can do it, and do, I hope it works out for the best.
