I think it all depends on what the site includes. There are many factors that play in to this. How many hours it takes? what software you need? hosting? I host with Heritage Web Solutions and their hosting prices are super cheap, but they have so many features that come along with it. So, I think you need to just do an overview of the amount of work that is going to be done and included.

well it dpends on how complex the code is you could set a fixed price say $200-300 per site, or a per hour charge $20 a hour at least these are the sort of prices i charge.

Yes, many company do this. My company do this for our clients.You can check our site http://www.syruptechnologies.com we have worked with renowned clients .We could do only the HTML and CSS development of the web pages based on the design inputs provided by the client. The designs usually would need to be given as JPG’s, PSD (Photoshop) or CDR (Corel Draw) files.

When I’m looking for employees I always look for the small things, like organised code, tabbed in the correct places, so that at a glance you can see what goes with what e.g.

Also I look for people who comment their code, so no-one has to look through all the code to find out what it does.

If you are going to an interview, I wouldn’t suggest talking about how code works, as they will know and this will sound patronising to them.

Most people aren’t looking for people who can code, there are thousands, what they are usually looking for is someone who has flare, creativity and can think for themselves, but also work in a team.

If your design is just an idea on a piece of paper, then a good web company will help you turn it into something real (and should also suggest where problems may lie or improvements can be made).

If you know what you’re doing and have done the design out in photoshop/dreamweaver or even already created the HTML and you just want database integration and dynamic things adding then thats also no problem and will save you money.

My company (http://www.codecraft.co.uk) does full design and development for end users, but also works for design agencies by taking what they have designed for their clients and adding the dynamic bits.
