Many people go to college these days as adult learners and this is often after they have worked for many years, raised families, and made a lot of financial mistakes. Many adult students have to get bad credit alternative student loans. Otherwise, they cannot afford to pay their tuition. After any grants, scholarships, and federal student loans are applied to their student account, many students still have a balance that they have to figure out a way to pay. Private student loans are based on credit approval. If you do not have good credit, or a creditworthy cosigner, you usually do not qualify for them.
