Understanding the deductible of your Ontario healt
An ontario health insurance plan that allows you to see any physician is
called a PPO plan. These plans are considered premier, and are opposed to
HMO plans that dictate gatekeeper general physicians to their subscribers. A
PPO will carry a deductible, which will range from $250 to $500, typically.
The deductible is amount that is due from you to the provider directly. This
is on top of any co-payment and co-insurance subscriber responsibilities
that your plan may carry. So, for instance, you might visit a doctor at her
office for the first time this calendar year, and need to pay a co-payment
of $35. You pay the co-pay at the door, but will get a bill for the cost of
the visit, and will continue to receive bills from providers in this fashion
until your deductible is met.
