Teens Pulled In Multiple Directions
In today’s society, adolescents are being pulled in all directions by various types of influencers. The most significant of these influencers are their families, their peers, and their interpretation of the broader social context in which they live. While I would be the first to argue that these influencers are powerful in their own right, it must be said that the impact each has on the decisions of adolescents is magnified when two or more are acting in a cooperative manner. In the coming pages I will identify the most significant areas that each represents. More often than not, there are several occasions where either peers, family or the broader social context interact with one another to shape the values, beliefs and actions of adolescents.
