Body in Motion personal training Bournmeouth run Body MOT, which is a comprehensive fitness test, which measures your fitness against a “normal” population of your age.

However as a quick test- here are a few ideas to try at home:

1) Flexibility

Make sure you can touch your toes without bending your knees. If not your hamstring muscles are too tight.

Make sure you can touch your hands behind your back- one hand behind your back and one hand over your shoulder. If not your shoulders are too tight.

2) Body Fat

If you waist measures more than your chest, you are carrying too much fat around your vital organs.

3) Cardio

Run up and down a flight of stairs three times. If you can hold a conversation afterwards with puffing you have a good level of cardiovascular fitness

4) Strength

Press ups:

Women should be able to do 20 press ups on your knees-minimum

Men should be able to do 20 press ups on your toes-minimum

5) Balance

Stand on one leg for 30 seconds without falling over. Swap legs. If you fall over or wobble you need to work on your balance. If you have mastered this- try the same with your eyes shut!
