Flash is generally …
Flash is generally not SEO friendly and is a pain is the butt to manage. Most people who purchase these templates will not know how to optimize them and optimize it. Flash should be used, but only as features.
Sites shouldn’t be flash, but sites should use flash.

I completely agree, …
I completely agree, open source is best. Even though I do have it installed for videos and music, I think that entertainment should be it’s main purpose. It was designed to give your web browser new functionality, not take away from it by making accessibility limitations.

I am not saying flash shouldent be used.
only that it should be used sparingly and only where there is no other non-propertary solution.
webstandards are allways to be prefered over a propertary technoligy.
personaly i which we could see a open source and standarized rival to flash take over.
because it feels very wrong that adobe should own 1 essential part of todays inernet landscape.

I strongly disagree …
I strongly disagree with you on some of the things you mentioned. Certain things that can be done in Flash cannot be done in JS, like the site shown in the Video above. Also knowing your intended audience for your website is important. If your audience is going to be made up of high-end folks then chances are they have flash installed on their PC, anyone who watches videos, listen to music, and plays games has flash so nowadays just about everyone has it installed.

One should never demand any addins…
Not all users will have flash on there computers.
to outright demand flash in the website is moronic and stupuid!
Learn about the semantic web you morons!
(besides many of these effects could be done with javascript based solutions that are added on as an optional layer to the site not a vital part)

While many templates look good, they are poorly executed and difficult to edit to fit your needs - you can produce your own site in the time it takes to rework theirs - especially when it comes to flash - it’s often NOT the time-saver you think it will be.
