Which website design company should i design mine with?
I’m starting a small business and i want my website to be a little more than an advertisement. I do not know anything about website designing and therefore need a little help. Thanks
It really depends on what you want but you may not need to hire a company to do it. There are many templates you can download for free, try googling the type you want i.e. ‘restaurant template’ or ‘free restaurant template’. Then you just need to host it and get a domain name.
If you need an online shop then again there are several ecommerce web sites readily available for download. You could then customise them by replacing images and changing colours.
You could take free web hosting from http://4fr3.com and inside the control panel you will find an easy script installer which would allow you to choose an ecommerce script for quick install, or there are hundreds of web templates to choose from. It will also give you a feel for hosting your own site without the cost and could easily be upgraded or moved to a host of your choice, but all in all it’s excellent training ground for free!

Find a local web design business, you will get a better price. Ask to see past projects, what they have achieved with past website designs.
You then need to think of SEO (search engine optimization)
- it can be expensive, and if your looking at pushing your business online you have to think is there a market for what i am doing? or is it just too hotly contested…… look at what your selling or providing and search in google different terms that describes your service or what your selling, look at the top 3…. are they big outfits? if so….SEO may not be an option.
talk to you local web design company, see what they say. BUT BE WARNED! - if it sounds too good to be true….it usually is / if they can get you number 1 in google….be sure its for something thats people are actually searching for.
For a website that basic / only a few html pages. your looking at £500 - £600
SEO work can be £1000+ and then monthly fee to keep you there (bit of hard work and research and you can do it yourself…..i did)
