How do I go about designing a small business website for free?

October 23, 2009 - 4:36 am

I have a small cake decorating business and I’m interested in expanding my business by designing a small website - mainly to showcase my work, provide basic information (prices, flavours, contact details etc) and perhaps even an online interest/order form. Can anyone suggest online website design solutions that are quick, easy and free?

Hello. You could go to http://webnode.com . It’s not hard to make your site there, you can do everything you want, they have nice proffesional templates and it’s free.

First off, consider the benefit of being able to quickly and easily update your website, while having complete control of content and layout. If this interests you, you’ll want to spend just a bit of money and check out the WYSIWYG simple web design programs (what you see is what you get). One of the most popular, well-reviewed, and affordable among these programs is Sandvox for Mac OS X from Karelia Software http://www.sandvox.com. Sandvox features over 50 design templates, with more coming from third-party sources nearly every day http://www.sandvoxdesigns.com.

See some examples of professional websites you can create with Sandvox at http://www.sandvoxed.com. Check out their tutorial screencast at http://www.karelia.com/sandvox/screencast.html?autoplay=YES and download a free demo if you like what you see. Karelia is also well-known for a great and supportive user community and excellent customer service.

Best of luck with your new website.

One of the easiest ways to make money online is affiliate marketing

selling other peoples products…The Wealthy Affiliate University

teaches and provides you with everything you will ever need to

    affiliate market. http://tinyurl.com/cuw9an

Surveys are also a good place to start. I joined this company as it

offers both online and local offline surveys targeted to your area

One of this weeks greatest finds for me this week is a new

community that offers free websites and free hosting with a

platform that so easy to use that you don’t even need any web

design skills to have a site up in minutes.

http://tinyurl.com/c5z96w They are also monetized so you can

start earning money online immediately. See my site example here

There are so many affiliate programs and so much information

available on the internet that affiliate marketing can be

overwhelming initially. This is one of the reasons The Wealthy

Affiliate University is so great..they give you an 8 week action plan

to follow and a forum that will answer just about any question you

    could ever have..

Hi, I am a professional web copywriter. Unfortunately webnode.com does not offer a contact form according to their forum questions & answers. The answer to your question depends on your budget and how professional a website you want and how many features. If you want something really professional, try Mysitemyway.com. You go through their shopping cart, answer questions about your business, and then you have a 5 page site instantly available with your answers forming your initial web content. You can then edit your text and add things to, such as e-commerce, animated banners, Google maps, contact forms, testimonial pages, galleries, FAQ pages, basically every feature you could want. You can try them out for free for 30 days and see what you think. If you would like to see a couple of sites I helped people build using mysitemyway.com, go to canyonqualitytreeservice.com or mcinonline.net. They often offer promotions, so if a 20% discount would make a difference, use their contact form to see if they are offering one now. And they also let you use their system to design websites for other people if that would appeal to you.
